Following the event “The Legacy of Guglielmo Marconi: Visionary Innovator,” in which the SIEm also participated on February 1, 2025, the IEEE Italy Section published a volume containing the extended version of the papers presented at the conference, enriched by numerous contributions not presented at the conference that describe various aspects of Guglielmo Marconi. Some of the contributions in the volume are written by ordinary or emeritus members of the SIEm.
The volume, in Italian, is therefore divided into two complementary and organically connected parts. The first, entitled L’eredità di Guglielmo Marconi: innovatore visionario, collects the papers presented at the conference by the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation and the Quadrato della Radio, offering a perspective focused on the technological legacy and contemporary impact of Marconi’s work. Complementary to this first part, the second part, titled Guglielmo Marconi tra ricerca industriale, vicende storiche e narrazioni critiche includes historiographical and analytical insights curated by the IEEE Italy Section’s History Activity Committee, which critically examine the many dimensions of Marconi’s figure.
This volume therefore intends to celebrate the figure of this great Italian on the 150th anniversary of his birth.
